Casa Branca river port

Portinho da Casa Branca, also known as the Odemira River Port, lies on the right bank of the Mira River, near Vale Bejinha, in the parish of São Luís.

The concrete quay was built in 1936–37 and in 1937 the granary of the National Federation of Wheat Producers was set up here. The port shipped grain and iron ore from the São Domingos hills, and received fertiliser. It was especially important during the Second World War, when road transport almost came to a halt.

As part of the Mira River nautical tourism project, Odemira Municipality built a new public quay, a viewpoint and a slipway at Casa Branca, and a Casa Branca Interpretation Centre is being developed.

Casa Branca is the end point of river trips from Vila Nova de Milfontes, by stand up paddle board and canoe.
